For those who love nights on the town: Visit A38, a former Ukrainian bar which attracts big-name DJs from across Europe. The venue offers a restaurant, club and roof terrace spread over three floors.

For those who love an adventure: One of the best and most fun ways to see Budapest is by segway. Segway tours cost about 100 bucks: you get a guide, three hours of great sights and some fascinating historical facts.

For those who love a bit of history: Visit the Castle of Vajdahunyad. This beautiful castle is right near the lake, housing the Museum of Agriculture. It's the right place for you if you are interested in historical relics, like hoes from the 14th Century. (Yes, you read that right!)

If you feel a bit grubby: Visit the Széchenyi Thermal Bath. The bath offers more or less the same services as all the other Baths in Budapest. Still, it's unique because of its turn-of-the-century architectural style.

For all you pirates and water lovers: Rent a boat and take a trip on the artificial lake stretching from the Castle of Vajdahunyad all the way to the Budapest Zoo.

For when you need a break: Take a walk in the City Park. The park is a great place to take a stroll. There's nothing to look at in particular, except a bunch of trees and green areas, but this is still the calmest, most pleasant place in the city.

To get the oldies off your back: Take a look at the Heroes' Square. The National Art Gallery is on one side and the Museum of Fine Art on the other. If you have an affinity for arts, these are the places to go. But expect long queues!

For thrill seekers: Check out the Funfair (Vidámpark). It might not be interesting at all compared to Disneyland, but it has a certain post-Communist feeling. A unique experience for tourists and locals alike.

To unleash the animal in you: The Budapest Circus was the first and only stone circus in Europe. It was opened in 1891, and despite many changes in ownership and years of turmoil it managed to maintain its popularity. Although the splendour of the Budapest Circus has faded as entertainment technology has improved, it still offers enjoyable, unique live shows of acrobatics and performances of foreign troupes.
