where: Budapest, Hungary
When: Mid August
Thrill seekers will love this festival. Held in Hungary every August, on an island in the middle of capital city Budapest, Sziget (pronounced see'-get) is adrenalin junkie heaven and plays host to more than one thousand performances from artists like REM, MGMT and the Sex Pistols.
The five-day festival has been going since 1993 and is one of the biggest music festivals in the region. It takes up the whole of Obudai Island and is a cross between a holiday camp and Glastonbury. There's heaps to see and do including bungee jumping, a flying fox and even a wedding tent. Music-wise, Sziget caters for many different tastes in music, offering a blues stage, a jazz tent and a world music stage alongside the main stage with more typical popular rock acts.
Because it's located on an island, some would-be festival goers have tried to enter by swimming across the Danube River or by paddling across in an inflatable raft. This is NOT an approach recommended or endorsed by the B430 team!
Tickets go on sale in December and are available to purchase online through Interticket
