WHERE: Zilker Park, Austin Texas
WHEN: October 2-4 2009
Three days, eight stages and 130 bands means one helluva festival! Austin City Limits hit the ground running in 2002 and has already seen the likes of Coldplay, the Killers, Arcade Fire and Muse grace its stages. The festival is based on a live music TV show of the same name that’s been filmed in the city since 1976 – and both are renowned for embracing a wide-ranging passion for music.
Already famous for its legendary South by Southwest music conference in March, Austin is fast becoming the new music epicentre of the world. In fact it’s already been acknowledged as the Live Music Capital of the World, with more venues than any other city on the planet. Music is everywhere in Austin – in the pubs, the concert halls, the markets, the park and beyond.
Not only does the Austin City Limits festival give you the chance to witness more great bands than your eyes and ears can handle, it’ll also let you check out one of the USA’s most thriving cities, packed full of musos and students. Indeed, Austin’s unofficial slogan for the last couple of years has been “keep it weird”.
Weird, wonderful and wild, Austin City Limits offers both a unique musical trip and an authentically American experience.
Three-day tickets to ACL go on sale in three stages – first release starting at US$135, second US$160 and third US$185. They’re available to purchase online through at the official website Single day tickets are also available closer to festival time.
